About the Event

Geoff will cover the interesting Anglo-American campaign to capture the French fortified city of Louisbourg in what is now Nova Scotia.  He will discuss how the joint navy/army campaign closed the St Lawrence to French shipping and effectively decided the fate of French Canada before the British even arrived at Quebec.

Towards the end of his career in the Royal Air Force, Geoff was the Defence Attaché in Canada, so has met many very strong opinions from both the Anglo and Québécois communities. He subsequently taught, among other things, military history at the Baltic Defence College in Estonia before retiring to Worcester where he now supports the Battle of Worcester Society.
