PUBLISHING

In 2012 The Battle of Worcester Society registered as a publishing house with the intent to publish works regarding or complimenting the heritage surrounding The Battle of Worcester, the English Civil Wars, and their ramifications. Having already found success in both hard copy and online publishing with the Black Pear Journal (the BoWS's official journal) we have now begun to publish various books. Our first publication was produced on behalf of the Battle of Worcester 1651 Dinner Committee and compiled a series of lectures given over the past 10 20 years at dinners that commemorated the battle. Each lecturer delivered a fresh perspective on the battle and graciously agreed to have their lectures compiled into this wonderful book. To order please visit our online shop.

Our next publication will be Thomas Tomkins: Musician, Citizen, Victim of War written by Revd. Canon Paul Tongue. The book is a brief biography of one of Worcester's more prominent citizens at the time of the English Civil Wars, Thomas Tomkins. A renowned musician and composer who at the hight of his 'fame' was a member of the Chapel Royal and composed music for coronations and state funerals. A delightful book with supporting information and pictures from the Medieval Library of Worcester Cathedral.

All members of the society receive discounts on all BoWS Publications.

DO YOU HAVE AN IDEA FOR A BOOK THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE PUBLISHED? MAYBE YOU EVEN HAVE A MANUSCRIPT YOU WOULD LIKE US TO TAKE A LOOK AT?

If you do have an idea or a manuscript you think the society would be interested in then please get in touch. We are not a vanity publisher so you will not pay anything to have your book produced and sold.
