CHAIRMAN

RICHARD SHAW BA

Member of the Executive Committee: 2012 - Present

Richard Shaw, has been a member of the BoWS since 2011 and a member of the committee since 2012.

He was born at Norton Barracks, Worcester, where his father had served in the Worcestershire Regiment until he was seriously wounded in India in 1944.  After his recovery he was given a civilian job in the Barracks. Richard joined the Worcestershire Police Cadets straight from school in 1963, and served as a regular police officer for 31 years, until his retirement in 1997 as a Chief Inspector at the force Headquarters at Hindlip Hall.  Richard then worked as a Civil Claims Investigator in the Legal Department at Hindlip Hall for a further 11 years.  Upon his retirement in 2008 he worked part time for a firm of solicitors in Malvern as an Investigator for three years.  He has been a Level 2 Steward at Worcester Warriors Rugby Club since 2010.

Richard has had a life long interest in military history and has visited battle sites all over the world.  He gives talks on the Worcestershire Regiment and on 19 February 2013 gave a walking history tour of Worcester to 44 participants.
